Wild Roses

Como muchos ya sabéis, adoro las flores naturales, aunque debo confesar que estas rosas silvestres hechas de papel me han cautivado. Para celebrar el día de Sant Jordi y darle una vuelta craft a la tradición, voy a preparar un puestecito fuera del estudio, en el que además de ofrecer algún que otro libro craft, vamos a preparar estas rosas que encontré hace poco navegando por la red.
Enseguida que me topé con el tutorial, me imaginé que quedarían genial con los colores pastel de las pinturas naturales Autentico, que tengo en el estudio.

You all know how much I adore natural flowers, but I have to confess that I have fallen in love with this wild paper roses. The story is that on the April 23rd, the day of Saint Jordi, there is a beautiful tradition in some parts of Spain, where you buy a book and a rose to the ones you love. Thinking about setting a table outside my studio for this special day I thought about offering a crafty activity to create a paper rose and I came upon this DIY.
I could imagine that it would look really great with the Autentico natural paint I offer at my studio, specially because it has this really nice pastel tones.

De la paleta de Autentico Chalk Paint escogí los colores: Rosa Antiguo, Fuchsia Antiguo y Massai. Mezclé 100 ml de agua con una cucharadita de café de la pintura. El siguiente paso es pintar círculos con la mezcla sobre cuadrados de papel de unos 10 cm . Para una flor necesitarás pintar 3 cuadrados de papel del mismo tamaño.

I picked the colors of the Autentico Chalk Paint palette : Antique Rose, Purple Rain and Massai and mixed 100 ml of water with a coffee spoon of paint. The next thing was to paint circles with my water color on a 4" square paper. For one flower you will need to paint 3 square papers of the same size.

Después doblé el cuadrado por la mitad, formando un triángulo, lo repetí dos veces más. Luego dibujé una pequeña curva en el extremo superior y recorté el sobrante. También hay he hacer un pequeño corte en en la punta inferior, así verás un agujerito en el centro cuando abras el papel.

After folding the square one time in half, making a triangle, I repeated this fold 2 more times. Then I drew a little curve on the upper part and cut it into shape with some scissors. I also cut the little tip of the bottom a tiny bit to have a small whole in the middle once you unfold the paper.

El siguiente paso es desdoblar los tres trozos de papel y cortar uno de los segmentos de cada una de las hojas, como si cortaras una porción de tarta. El tamaño será diferente en cada uno de los trozos de papel: de la primera hoja corta sólo un segmento, en el segundo, dos, y en el tercero, tres segmentos irán fuera. ¡No tires los trozos que los usaremos luego!

The next thing was to open the three folded sheets and to cut out a little segment into each one as if you were cutting a piece of cake. The size of the cut out piece is different in each paper: the first paper  you cut one segment, the next paper cut two segments and the third paper cut three segments. (Don't throw away the little cut out pieces, you will need them!)

Ahora tienes que pegar los extremos de cada uno de los trozos grandes, solapando los segmentos y cerrando así un círculo. Con los trocitos pequeños que hemos recortado, haz unos pequeños conos, enrollando el papel y pegándolo con un poco de pegamento.

Now I had to glue the edges together with some paper glue, overlapping at each of the bigger paper pieces one segment over the other closing the circle. With the smaller cut out pieces I made little cones, rolling the paper together with some glue.

El siguiente paso es coger un pequeño palo de madera con el que darle forma a los pétalos, enrollándolos hacia atrás. Después, cogí un alambre para hacer flores (puedes usar un alambre normal) y le pegué unos pistilos en el extremo. Para ello, puedes utilizar unas pequeñas cuentas. Y ahora, empieza la diversión... Toca introducir el alambre por el pequeño agujerito de cada una de las piezas, de las más pequeña a la más grande. Puse un poquito de pegamento en el fondo de cada papel para unirlos.

The next step was to get a little wooden stick and roll the top edges of the petals backwards. After it I took some flower wire (you can also use regular wire) and attached some pistils at the top. You can also use a little bead if you like. Now the most fun part starts, which is to thread the wire through the smallest cone and then all the other ones from small to bigger size. I used some paper glue at the bottom of each paper to hold them together.

Y aquí la tenéis... una pequeña rosa silvestre con los colores de mis pinturas Autentico.

And there it was...my little wild rose with my pure and natural Autentico Paints.

Creo que mi próximo proyecto será probar hacer estas rosas en tamaño grande para celebrar Sant Jordi. Creo que quedarán genial y os aseguro que veréis el resultado en mi cuenta de Instagram. Así que ¡atentos! ;-)
